Knocked-Out Tooth Solutions With Dental Implants

Knocked-Out Tooth in Jasper, AL | Free Implant Consultations

When dealing with a knocked-out tooth, immediate action allows the tooth to be reattached. However, you must meet certain conditions to accomplish successful reattachment. If you mishandle your tooth or it dries out, it loses the ability to reconnect with your gum tissues! Fortunately, Bivona Family Dental prepares for that circumstance. If you are missing a tooth and need a replacement, we can use dental implant solutions! While traditional bridges also restore your missing tooth, they lack the stability and efficiency of a dental implant-supported restoration. We recommend using either traditional dental implants or mini dental implants, depending on your needs. At your free implant consultation, we can determine which replacement method is the best choice for your knocked-out tooth!

Using Dental Implants as Your Solution to a Knocked-Out Tooth

If you miss the golden window for reattachment or your tooth dries out, don’t panic. You may not be able to attach your natural tooth, but your options for replacement are plentiful!

At Bivona Family Dental, we recommend dental implants to restore your smile, as these titanium posts offer incredible stability. Once secure in your jawbone, dental implants both secure your artificial crown and serve as a replacement tooth root!

This is essential to your oral health, as tooth roots provide necessary stimulation to your jaw that keeps it full and healthy. Without the stimulation from your roots, your bone loses mass and volume over time, leading to unfortunate consequences like excessive wrinkling and a change in facial structure.

Fortunately, dental implants act as artificial tooth roots to secure your smile and keep your jawbone healthy! The experienced doctors at Bivona Family Dental offer two kinds of dental implants to replace knocked-out teeth, each with a unique structure and design.

Traditional Dental Implants

Traditional dental implants are around five millimeters wide and have a multi-component construction. These implants provide an incredibly stable foundation for your replacement crown.

To secure traditional implants in your jaw, we use a surgical procedure. First—to access your bone—we must make an incision in your gums. Once the gum tissue is out of the way, we then use a series of drills that increase in size to create a hole large enough to fit the implant. The first component of a traditional implant is the body, or the titanium screw that secures to your jawbone. Titanium is a biocompatible material that bonds well with living bone tissue through a process called osseointegration, allowing for an incredibly secure anchor.

While your implant integrates with your bone, we’ll stitch your incision up to facilitate faster healing. Once secure, we’ll reopen the incision to place the abument, or connector piece, on top of your implant body. This component allows your restoration to attach to the implant. After 3 to 6 months, we will place the final crown atop your implant, replacing your knocked-out tooth with a beautiful and functional artificial one.

Unfortunately, not all patients are eligible for this procedure. Due to their larger diameter, traditional implants require an ample jawbone structure, which many patients lack due to tooth loss! Bivona Family Dental, however, has a solution.

Mini Dental Implants

Mini dental implants are the smaller version of traditional dental implants, less than three millimeters in diameter. Additionally, they have a sleek one-piece design that offers many benefits for patients like you! Despite their smaller size, mini implants provide a solution that is just as stable! While not everyone is eligible for mini implants, most patients are, which is especially helpful for those with minimal bone structure.

To place mini implants, we can use a minimally invasive approach, due to their smaller diameter. Instead of creating incisions or using stitches, mini implants require a small pilot hole, about the size of a toothpick, in your gum and bone tissues. Using this pin hole as a guide, we gently screw the implant post in place. This minimally invasive procedure uses less jawbone structure and preserves the tissues surrounding your implants. This provides faster healing and immediate stability, allowing us to secure a temporary crown on the same day!

In just a few weeks, your mini implants will be secure enough to support a final crown, replacing your knocked-out tooth.
