Life moves fast, and sometimes it feels like you can never catch up! Between work and family obligations, it’s challenging to find time for other things, such as dental care. However, at Bivona Family Dental, we believe that your smile deserves to be a priority! Fortunately, we have incredibly time-efficient and effective dental procedures that keep your smile happy and healthy. One such procedure is a dental crown, or tooth-shaped cap that we fit over a tooth to fortify its structure. While this procedure typically requires multiple appointments to complete, we can craft and place your dental crowns in just one day! Using the innovative CEREC machine, we craft a custom crown in-office that blends seamlessly with your natural smile.
What Is a CEREC Machine?
Without treatment, damaged, broken, and decayed teeth create a variety of problems for patients like you. Fortunately, we can fortify the structure of these teeth with dental crowns, restoring the function and appearance of your smile! However, we understand that many patients don’t have the time to wait for a functional smile.
While a typical crown procedure takes weeks to complete, Bivona Family Dental crafts and places your crown in one day! Using a Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramic (CEREC) machine, we can create a realistic-looking dental crown that is custom-fit to your smile in a single visit.
A CEREC machine utilizes CAD/CAM technology, or computer-aided design/manufacturing tech, allowing us to design your crown in our office. Using detailed imaging of your tooth, we’re able to manipulate a digital model to the exact size, color, and shape of your natural teeth. Then, the CEREC machine gets to work, crafting your crown with incredible attention to detail.
Although these crowns are built fast, they’re made to last! Our same-day crowns are made of durable ceramic that fits directly over your tooth, protecting it from further damage and fortifying its structure. With our ability to color-match your crown to the rest of your teeth, we create a natural-looking restoration that preserves both the function and aesthetics of your smile.
Same-Day Crowns To Protect Your Smile
If you have a damaged or decayed tooth, you may be eligible for our same-day crown procedure!
First, we recommend that you visit Bivona Family Dental for a consultation. During this appointment, we’ll perform a thorough dental exam to assess the extent of your dental problems. Broken or decayed teeth pose a risk to the rest of your smile, as they’re more susceptible to further infection. Without treatment, the infection will spread, potentially affecting the neighboring teeth and gums!
Fortunately, removing the infection and protecting your tooth with a dental crown is an effective way to combat decay, while keeping your smile intact. However, it’s important to note that any tooth receiving a crown will require some preparation. Using specialized dental tools, we gently file down your tooth, creating room for the crown to fit over it. While we use a local anesthetic to keep you comfortable throughout the procedure, it’s common to experience some discomfort after the procedure.
Why Use a CEREC Machine?
There are many reasons we may use our CEREC machine to craft same-day dental crowns for your smile, including:
- Root canal: When bacteria breach the outer layers of your tooth, infecting the pulp inside, it can cause immense pain. The best way to remove the infection without removing your tooth is with a root canal! This procedure involves removing the infected pulp from within your tooth and sealing the vulnerable area to protect it from further infection. However, your tooth will still need a dental crown to fortify its structure! Using a CEREC machine, we can perform your root canal and restore your tooth in a single visit.
Severe decay: Typically, we treat cavities with dental fillings, sealing the vulnerable area of your tooth. Unfortunately, some decay is too severe for a mere filling, requiring a more robust solution. With our CEREC, we can remove all signs of decay and infection from your tooth and place a dental crown on top, protecting it from further infection.
- Dental trauma: The treatment we employ for broken teeth depends on the severity of your dental trauma. For chips, we may be able to use dental bonding or veneers instead of a crown, which preserves most of your tooth’s structure. However, for larger cracks and fractures, a dental crown may be necessary to both prevent infection and restore the function and appearance of your smile. With our CEREC, we can craft and place your crown in just one day!
During your consultation, we will create a personalized treatment plan tailored to your specific needs. If same-day crowns are the right choice for you, we will schedule your crown appointment and complete the process in a single visit!
