What Are the Advantages of One-Piece Implants?
Mini dental implants: compact, seamless, and effective. Learn how their one-piece design promotes long-lasting results in our video.
Implants come in a variety of shapes and sizes, and while we often use the term “mini dental implants,” the word “mini” refers to their smaller size relative to conventional implants, but not necessarily to their effectiveness or versatility. In fact, there are conventional diameter implants that share similarities with minis. What truly sets mini dental implants apart is their one-piece design.
Conventional implants typically consist of multiple parts—usually at least three for each tooth being replaced. These parts include screws, abutments, and other components that hold the tooth in place. While conventional implants have their advantages, one-piece implants offer significant benefits.
The one-piece design of mini implants means there are no seams, no internal holes that can harbor bacteria, and no screws that might loosen over time. This design minimizes the risk of bacterial buildup and movement that can lead to gum inflammation. Additionally, the bone bonds directly to the titanium, and the gums naturally adhere to the polished surfaces of the implant. The absence of seams and potential gaps means your gums are less likely to experience inflammation, creating a healthier environment for the implant.
