The Mini Dental Implant Process

If you’re curious about mini dental implants, the process is simpler than you might think. From a 3D scan to a new smile—often in just one visit. Watch our video to see how it works.

Many patients ask about the process for getting a mini dental implant, a one-piece implant, or even a conventional implant. The journey begins with a consultation, where I need to gather important records to plan your treatment. After we meet and discuss your needs, the first step is to take a CBCT, a 3D scan of the bone around the area where the implant will be placed. This scan helps us assess whether the bone is healthy, dense, and thick enough to support an implant.

One of the great advantages of mini implants is that they require less bone than conventional implants. It’s very rare that we review the CBCT and find that a patient is not a candidate for an implant. The process itself is straightforward. Using the CBCT scan, we determine the appropriate size implant, and often, because we keep a wide variety of implants in stock, we can place the implant the same day.

The procedure is simple and begins with a painless injection to numb the area. Then, we create a small hole in the gums, about the size of an ear piercing, through which we thread the implant, anchoring it securely into the jawbone. Once the implant is in place and its stability is confirmed, we can often place a crown on it the same day. In some cases, if more healing time is needed, we might place a temporary crown first.

This process is an excellent solution for those missing teeth and looking to replace them. If you’re interested in learning more, I would be happy to introduce you to this solution. Please give us a call for a free consultation, and we would be glad to assist you.
