Healing After Mini Dental Implant Placement
Healing time matters with dental implants, but you could be chewing with your new tooth the same day. Watch our video to learn how we make it happen.
Before any procedure, it’s important to discuss the expected healing time. This is especially true for dental implants, where healing plays a crucial role. Patients often want to know how long it will take before they have a functional tooth on top of the implant and, more importantly, when they can start using that tooth.
Many people are surprised to learn that, in some cases, we can place dental implants and have you functioning on that tooth the very same day. This isn’t uncommon, especially if we can achieve the right conditions, such as optimal blood flow, proper home care, and sufficient stability of the implant. Under these ideal circumstances, it’s possible to have a tooth or teeth that you can actually chew on immediately after the implant is placed.
However, in other cases—such as when we’re extracting a tooth and placing an implant on the same day—the healing process may take longer. In these instances, you might experience a healing period of up to three months. But even with this extended timeline, it’s quite common for patients to have functional teeth within a few weeks if not the same day.
So, while some situations require a longer healing period of two to three months, it’s often possible to have teeth ready for use much sooner.
